There are 18 famous seaside resorts on the Vendéen coast. Each resort has its own particular character.

Saint Jean de Monts, the children's favourite

With its 8 km of extremely safe gently sloping beaches, Saint Jean de Monts is top for family safety. Dip your toes in the water and give fishing for bean clams a go. Many areas and activities are just for children. The esplanade is a pleasant venue for completely safe rollerblading. Most of the cycle paths are located in clean and secured areas for great rides across the forest and wetlands. All year round, the vast beaches are perfect for land sailing.

Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, the oldest Vendéen port

Located in a central position on the Vendéen coast, Saint Gilles Croix de Vie is classified as a seaside and nautical resort. Saint Gilles Croix de Vie is home to the Bénéteau boat yard and has a marina with 1,000 moorings. This charming fishing town is just the place to enjoy a walk along the bustling town-centre quayside. It is the largest French sardine port on the Atlantic coast. Known for its quality of life and floral displays, it has always been an ideal place for holidays with family or friends.

Les Sables d'Olonne, the sea town

Les Sables d'Olonne is the Vendée seaside resort town famous for its long beach of fine sand and the legendary Vendée Globe race that starts at Port Olona every four years. Thanks to its port, fishing, commercial and marina activity, Les Sables d'Olonne is a dynamic town all year round and is an absolute must as a destination for all kinds of water sports. A stroll along the little streets is the best way to discover the town's heritage and living testimony to its past: old ship-owner's houses, 18th century town houses, seaside villas with a variety of regional styles and fishermen's cottages, etc.

La Tranche sur Mer, a village by the sea

La Tranche-sur-Mer is one of the rare seaside destinations to have avoided massive constructions and asphalted embankments. Thanks to its magnificent authentic scenery, its 13 km of beaches bordered by dunes and the quality of its bathing water, this little seaside village has been committed to preserving the environment for many years. Nestled between dunes, sea and forest, footpaths for walkers lead right into La Tranche sur Mer, a resort offering fun par excellence and well known for its water boardsports and sailing in south Vendée.
