OFFICE DE TOURISME DE LA TRANCHE SUR MER

La Tranche-sur-Mer: a preserved natural environment by the ocean.

La Tranche has long been known for its isolation, perhaps because it faces Ile de Ré, or maybe because it is surrounded by marshland.
It retains and cultivates its insular character to this day. Here, you will find traditional low-set houses with white walls and red tiled roofs. Get lost among the cobbled streets that wind through the village and eventually converge on the main square at its centre.
Four districts, four faces: The village centre is the heart of local life. It is home to the church and its newly renovated forecourt, the market square, the covered market, the Tourist Office and, of course, the narrow, shop-lined, pedestrian streets that lead to the main square. To the south is the coastal Grière district that is popular with second-home-owners. The lighthouse district stands along the edge the forest. Finally comes the hamlet of La Terrière, to the north of the village nestled against the dune.
