MUSEE ORNITHOLOGIQUE CHARLES PAYRAUDEAU

LA CHAIZE LE VICOMTE

The museum showcases the stuffed bird collection of Vendée naturalist Charles Payraudeau (1798-1865).

In 1826, Charles Payraudeau became the first zoologist to study the wildlife of Corsica, discovering two new bird species and 71 new molluscs.
400 European and tropical bird species are on show, together with a variety of shellfish.

Opening times:
All year from Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 12:30pm & 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Week-ends: by prior reservation.
July & August: daily from 8:30am to 12:30pm & 2:00pm to 5:00pm - exception Saturday & Sunday mornings.

Free for children
Groups (more than 9 pers.): 1 €
