Arts, Culture and Heritage

Heritage, culture and tourism are important elements in the Vendee. There is a generous supply of beautiful castles to visit, ancient abbeys and remarkable gardens. Many museums provide lively visits, their aim is to create educational activities adapted for all family members. Other historical theme parks such as the Puy du Fou, allow visitors to travel back through the centuries, presenting the rich heritage of France. The Vendee is also the birthplace of Internationally renowned figures like Georges Clemenceau and De Lattre, who paid their tribute in France's heritage. A rich natural heritage is constantly visible as we travel through the western part of Pays de la Loire. So, take the time to admire the nature reserves and the beauty of the natural sites that the Vendee has to offer. And of course, the quaint « Petites Cités de Caractère » cannot be overlooked. For instance, the picturesque medieval village of Vouvant or the delightful Ile aux Artisans in Sallertaine which hides a real treasure trove of craftsmen and tradition...
