On the northern outskirts of the town, in the Terres Noires sports complex, not far from the national stud farm, the La Roche Sur Yon racecourse extends over 20 hectares in a wooded setting.
Created in 1863, with its functional facilities, it offers excellent visibility over the tracks. Its reputation is built on a fine steeplechase course where horses from the West and South-West of France regularly compete.
Improvements are underway, including the creation of 20 additional boxes.
Popular with racegoers and walkers alike, the Terres Noires racecourse offers five meetings a year in May, June, September and October.
