Le petit Château des Cèdres – a mysterious b&b château in France
Le Petit Château des Cèdres was the property of Ernest Beaux in the 1920s, perfumer to the Russian Tsar. Mr Beaux was better known for having been the first "nose" for Chanel, the creator Chanel n°5. At that time, the chateau already had traces of fashion, couture and perfume due to the presence of Coco Chanel, a close friend of Ernest. The b&b chateau "Onésime" suite is located in the former library, the "Clemenceau" suite pays homage to the "Tiger" (a former French politician) whose tomb is in Mouchamps. The "Vendée" room reminds us that Vendée and the ocean are never far away. Room "n°5" casts an air of mystery regarding the creation of this sumptuous perfume on these very premises, and finally the "Guilbaud" room retraces the adventurous aviator's journeys.
The "Gîte le chromatic" – an exceptional gite in France with a private pool
Created by the architects Philippe Rizzotti and Daya Bakker, the "Gite le Chromatic" was designed as an unusual building built from a mixture of wood, metal and glass. Well known designers have helped with the design of this gîte such as Michel Ducaroy, Emile Baumann, Ilmari Tapiovaara...to mention but a few. The gîte "Le Chromatic" can accommodate up to 12 people. It offers an unusual, top-of-the-range accommodation in the Vendée, being one of gites in France with a private pool. A pool of 10 m, heated to 29°C all year round. The “gite le Chromatic” is situated on a 5,000 m shared property, in the middle of the countryside, not far from the sea, where we follow the pace of the seasons.
Gîte o’prieur – a luxury cottage with a private pool, in western France
This barn, which once housed animals, has been revisited by Morgane and David in a contemporary space which offers an exceptional view of the surrounding countryside. A mixture of antique objects, some vintage and some contemporary plunge us into a journey through time. On the ground floor of this luxury gite, the three large bedrooms, each with its own style, are equipped with private bathrooms and terraces opening out onto the countryside. Upstairs, 4 small bedrooms and an area for relaxing called OPrieur.
The vast 300m² barn houses a 10 m slate-coloured swimming corridor which is heated all year round between 28 and 29°C. An open terrace surrounds this entire area. The vintage lounge overlooks the private pool and the dining area offers an exceptional panoramic view over the 2-hectare (7.5 acres) park.
The Corner – an English owned b&b in France at Noirmoutier en l'île
Located in the heart of l’Ile de Noirmoutier, this English owned b&b called "The Corner", is just a few steps away from the covered market. The owners are Diane (an American) and Raphaël Lafont, (who is French). Just like the owners, the establishment has been a place where cultures mingle. Their guests can enjoy an American style brunch in the comfortable lounge or the charming courtyard around the barbecue. This stone house dates back to 1814 when it home to the first legal official and the first Mayor of Noirmoutier en Ile. Visitors can borrow bicycles from their hosts and so to fully enjoy the island. The Corner is also a "table d'hôtes" where Raphaël, who was a chef in the United States, shows his culinary skills by revisiting the specialties from Noirmoutier but adding a little American touch.
Le Céladon – a charming b&b in France in northern Vendée
Le Céladon is a charming b&b in the Vendée and has been in this family of solicitors for 4 generations. Tastefully restored, the house has kept traces of its past, i.e the tiles, stuccoes, woodwork, fireplaces and old parquet floors. Le Céladon vast private lounge, welcomes new guests. On the 1st and 2nd floors there are 4 bedrooms each able to accommodate 2 people per room. Breakfast is served on the terrace during the summer, weather permitting, or in the cosy kitchen.
