Vendée Wine Route

Famous French vineyards - the "Domaines" of Fiefs Vendéens

The Fiefs Vendéens AOC regroups 15 wine estates, 15 wine producers and 5 terroirs covering almost 500 hectares across the Vendée. Stretching from the coastal regions at Brem sur Mer to the inland regions of Mareuil, Chantonnay, Pissotte and Vix. They are part of the French vineyards producing organic wines and biodynamie growing methods. Set out and encounter the wine grower devoted to their profession.

Domaine des Granges à Olonne sur Mer

Fiefs Vendéen wine growers of Brem – a salty influence

The "Fief Vendéen" appellation of Brem covers 80 hectares and is made up of five distinctive coastal vineyards. It extends over the communities of Brem sur Mer, Brétignolles sur Mer, Ile d'Olonne, Olonne sur Mer and Vairé. Their location means that the sea air has a particular influence on the vines, producing dry white wines typified by a hint of iodine.

Domaine de la Barbinière à Chantonnay

Fiefs Vendéens wine grower of Chantonnay a variety of terroir

The Fiefs Vendéen appellation for Chantonnay boasts over 25 hectares, extending over the towns of Chantonnay and Saint Philbert du Pont Charrault. The vineyards are planted on the hilly slopes of Chantonnay, and are probably the highest in the Vendée.

Vignoble Le Clos des Chaumes à la Couture

Fiefs Vendéens wine estates of Mareuil

The "Fiefs Vendéens" appellation of Mareuil covers 330 hectares. It extends over the communes of Chaillé sous les Ormeaux, Champ Saint Père, Château Guibert, Couture, Mareuil sur Lay Dissais, Rosnay, Saint Florent des Bois and Le Tablier.

Located south of La Roche sur Yon, the Fiefs Vendéens of Mareuil, grows on schist soils, and is known as the land of reds and rosés, that are rich and full of character. Not forgetting a few more confidential whites.

Domaine Coirier à Pissotte

Fiefs Vendéen AOC of Pissotte a deep history

The “Fiefs Vendéens” appellation in Pissotte covers 24 hectares. The terroir is contiguous to the north of Fontenay le Comte and covers a single town, Pissotte. Since the soil is very deep, the vines must pass through a thick layer of clay to find it. The Fiefs Vendéens of Pissotte, is best known for its fruity rosés and slightly pearly whites. The same grape varieties are found here as in the other Fiefs Vendéens wines but with the touch of Melon.

Domaine Mercier à Vix

Vix wine estate – a “vine” nursery

With 40 hectares under the appellation "Fiefs Vendéens", the terroir of Vix extends over the communes of Auzay, Longèves, Poiré sur Velluire and Vix. With 40 hectares under the appellation "Fiefs Vendéens", the terroir of Vix extends over the communes of Auzay, Longèves, Poiré sur Velluire and Vix
