Description
Bird reserve belonging to the Vendée Department with three lakes. This reserve, 30 minutes from the Puy du Fou hosts a wide diversity of birds (museum, observatories and footpaths)
The ornithological reserve of the “City of Birds” encompasses more than 138 acres. Primarily set up as two large lakes (the first 56 acres and the second 7 acres) this nature reserve is an unmissable place to come and observe a large numbers of different birds.
This reserve is ideally situated on the main Western European migratory paths and benefits from the influence of the region’s most humid zones: le lac de Grand Lieu, le Marais Breton, la Baie de Bourgneuf, le Marais Poitevin et la Baie de l'Aiguillon.
A haven of peace for passerine birds, birds of prey and water birds it is one of the most extensive wetland in inland Vendée.
