The bulbs of crocus sativus, more commonly known as saffron, were planted one by one on the former chicken breeding plots.

Christian's bulbs have been resting for more than 10 years in soil that is rich in organic matter and natural fertilisers, well drained and well-oriented. They will take full advantage of this natural wealth.
After a 1st harvest in October/November 2012 lasting 4 weeks, this fabulous spice is now available on the market stall at Ferme de la Futaie.
Best known in the kitchen for its incomparable flavour, its colouring and its golden yellow hue, it was also used in the past for its medicinal virtues, in particular its analgesic properties and its anti-depressant properties.
